The bands that break ground aren't always the ones that reap the fruits of their labor. Such is the case of Amor Indio, who between the mid and late 80's in Argentina, paved the way for a new scene to emerge following in their footsteps: a sound that occupied a gray area between Punk and Post-Punk, and what It would eventually be codified as Alternative Rock or Indie. Amor Indio were the darlings of the Argentine underground of the 80's, a scene where freaks mixed with hipsters at parties full of hedonism. Immersed in 60's aesthetics, psychedelic clothing and electric organs, Amor Indio and it's contemporaries did not seek to imitate that particular decade, but rather to re-imagine it.
